Vehicles transport the player around and between areas. They can carry much more than the player can on their own, unless they are playing in Casual mode, where some Backpacks bypass the Carry of some of vehicles. If close to a Storehouse (landed for flying vehicles), they can transfer items to and from there. Some also have other capabilities, e.g. attacking. Most vehicles require some sort of fuel to run. Certain vehicles also have stronger attacks than any personal equipment, such as mechs and spaceships.

Vehicle versions of enemies are usually weaker than the original; Golemechs, Megolemechs, and Drone Subs are three such examples that have a weaker attack than their counterparts. Friendly Dragomechs have equal attack strength to enemies, but do not have two heads or two arms. Dragon Ships do not change stats, because you can take them over instead of only being able to create your own.

Only the Boat, Dragon, and Tank are available in the demo.

Although most normal actions such as projectile hotkeys are not permitted in a vehicle (if the ammunition can’t be used by the vehicle), you can place and build blueprints or Magic Seeds without dismounting if you select “Manage Items” to access your own inventory. (If your vehicle is currently connected to the nearest storehouse, you cannot do this.) Using upgrade blueprints while mounted will not work if you cannot park your vehicle directly in front of the structure you are trying to upgrade (such as a large spaceship trying to upgrade a hut that is right next to a mountain or hill). You can also craft items with either kind of Workbench while riding in a vehicle, unless you are in a Dragomech or advanced dragonship and your Workbench uses hotkey 8; that hotkey is used for the special attacks of these vehicles, such as homing orbs or energy bombs.

Be careful when you pack up vehicles that have the option to do so, as they often weigh 50 weight or more and their whole inventory will be transferred to yours. You can easily overload your backpack and even be too overweight to move, although deploying the vehicle again will remove some of the strain and let you offload enough items to get back down to your carrying capacity. Some vehicles will show their physical weight when you craft them, such as the SUV and Boring Machine from the upgraded factory.

Some vehicles can renamed, such as any living vehicle or any spaceship with an interior.

Submarine[]

Sub

The Submarine travels underwater. It has a limited oxygen meter; to refresh it, travel to the surface. It can be equipped with a Torpedo Launcher. It can be built once the Mirrows relocate to the Water Cave or later in the game at any other Sub Pen. You can "pack up" the Submarine to put it in your inventory from the equipment menu and all the items in the Submarine are also placed in your inventory. It keeps the fuel, equipment, and durability when you do this.

The torpedo launcher, when equipped, is mounted on the side of the submarine, and fires horizontally in the direction it is facing.

The submarine can only be mounted or dismounted if it is next to a beach, in an underground air pocket, or at the water’s surface if you are using equipment that can fly.

If a Submarine is suddenly filled over its carrying capacity (by operating it with too much in your inventory), it will sink from the water's surface to the bottom and you will have to remove weight to make it light enough to move again.

Entering a Sub Pen will fully recharge the power automatically. If you buy a Sub Pen Blueprint, craft one in the Blueprint Printer, or find it in a chest, you can build multiple pens to recharge the submarine without having to use your own batteries or returning to the original one in the Sunset Haven water cave.

  • Location: Sub Pen (Water Cave)

It can be built once the Explorer's "Unfathomable" quest is completed. You can "pack up" the Submersible to put it in your inventory from the equipment menu and all the items in the Submersible are also placed in your inventory. It keeps the fuel, equipment, and durability when you do this.

The torpedo launcher, when equipped, will be mounted on the very top of your Submersible. You cannot shoot anything that is too close to the seafloor, like Lampfish at the bottom of the trench of The Depths. However, in most cases you will still be able to hit swimming enemies in the water column.

You can mount and dismount the Submersible while underwater.

The Megolemech is a land vehicle that can travel underground. It can be created in the Megolemech Factory. You can "pack up" the Mech to put it in your inventory from the equipment menu and all the items in the Megolemech are also placed in your inventory. It keeps the fuel and durability when you do this.

There is no homing laser unlike the enemy Megolemech, but you have two attack options. The fist smash is used via the dominant hand key, while the flame belly attack is used via the offhand key. Like the Golemech's eye laser, the flame belly attack has to recharge before it can be used again. All drops when either attack is used will be automatically collected by the Megolemech.

Note: Megolemechs can only be created in the Megolemech Factory, and must be packed up to move them anywhere else. They are extremely heavy, so to save stamina (instead of moving while overburdened, which can actually kill you) you can either use a very large portable storage unit like a Spirit Box or Hoarder Backpack, or quickly teleport from the cave/maze to somewhere with room to deploy your Megolemech.

  • Cost: Golemech, 5 Evolution Gems
  • Ram damage: 10
  • Attack: 200 (Flame, Smash)
  • Cut: 200 (Flame)

Wyrm Queen[]

Wyrm Queen

The Wyrm Queen digs underground and underwater. It can be obtained by using an Evolution Gem on a Wyrm familiar. It digs 3-4 squares while digging horizontally, and 5-6 squares while digging vertically. It automatically collects the resources it digs up. If the wyrm that you evolved into it had a modifier, so will it. You can pack up the Wyrm Queen to put it in your inventory from the equipment menu. It keeps the fuel and durability when you do this. It can also spawn additional Wyrm familiars for you while you ride it.

Wyrm Queens can swim between islands if you dig a tunnel to the ocean; few other land or underground vehicles can enter open water. When riding a Wyrm Queen underwater, you will still use your own oxygen meter. Return to the nearest air pocket or head to the surface to refresh it.

Air[]

Adult Dragon[]

The Dragon can be recruited from its lair on the Starting Island or evolved from a Young Dragon, which must be evolved from a Baby Dragon, both at a Dragon Lair (one is on the Starting Island, one on the Eastern Island). After the player evolves a Dragonship for the first time, Fire Gems can be used on every stage of Dragon/Wyrm familiar to evolve an Adult Dragon without returning to either Dragon Lair. The Adult Dragon can fly, and has a fire attack (used via the dominant hand key). It can land on water, but cannot move on it. You can pack up the Adult Dragon to put it in your inventory from the equipment menu. It keeps the fuel and durability when you do this.

The Adult Dragon’s flame attack homes in on whichever enemy is closest. The attack can’t change element even if you modify your Adult Dragon with an elemental gem, but it can be strengthened by using a Horn or Crystal Frond as a modifier. The flame attack can break through dirt and stone at close range if aimed at a mountain or the ground.

Space[]

Spaceships can fly into orbit, fly between planets within a star system, and travel to other star systems by using 1 Exotic matter (except for the Dragomech and Exo Mech). They do not use fuel to move. Some of them can generate a forcefield to shield themselves in flight when the player presses the offhand key; maintaining the shield for a long period of time will use up fuel.

Two types of flying Mech are also included in this category, crafted in the same facilities as some of the advanced spaceships. Depending on the equipment used (Dragomechs have a pre-equipped set of attacks that can’t be changed), flying mechs can dig with mine 9 (which uses up fuel) cut trees (which doesn’t use fuel), melee attack with a strength of 20 or more, and/or use a ranged attack. Both flying mechs can ascend into orbit, go underground, and dive to a depth of 80 (using the same animation for flying, unless on the seafloor where they will walk). They will have a carrying capacity of 4000.

Jumpship[]

Jumpship

The Jumpship can fly and travel to other planets or systems. It is found in the Lifepod, a chest in Ranger's lair on the Unnature Sanctuary, or crafted at the advanced lab for 5 high tech parts. The Fighter Escort can fly and travel to other planets or systems. It can be equipped with a Plasma Gun, Plasma Cannon or Antimatter Launcher. The Fighter Escort is obtained after the "Repair Escort Ship" quest from the Mirrows or built in the Spaceship Dock. The Fighter Escort needs to be equipped with at least one Power Core to be able to fly, and can be equipped with up to 3, as more Power Cores allow you to use the weapons and shield for longer before needing to cool down. It also has three Rejuvenation Pods which you can rest in to skip the night, recover all Stamina and Health, and save the game. The Power Core part of the ship automatically recharges your batteries when you step in it. If the Fighter Escort is destroyed, you and all the items in the Ship are put in a Lifepod.

The Fighter Escort's entry point is at the rear (the lowermost "fin" at the back), and it can be boarded from the ground.

  • Location: Spaceship Dock or complete "Repair Escort Ship"
  • Cost: 6 Hi-Tech Parts, 30 Titanium, 10 Silicon, 5 Uranium

Dragon Ship[]

DragonShip

The Dragon Ship can fly and travel to other planets or systems. It can be equipped with Heavy Fire, Burst Fire or Rapid Fire. The weapons are built in the Ship and cannot be unequipped. If they are unequipped, they are destroyed. The Dragon Ship is built in the Dragon Factory on the Floating Dragon Island above the Cultivator Island. The Dragon ship has a Mini Synthesizer in it, as well as a place to rest that acts as a Rejuvenation Pod (the spiderweb-like square area at the back, above the cargo hold). If the Dragon Ship is destroyed, it becomes a Dragon Ship Heart equipped on your back, and all the items are placed in your inventory. If the Elder Dragon that you used to evolve it had a modifier, so will it. The Dragon Ship Heart that you get when it dies will also have the same modifier.

The Dragonship's entry point is at the front, and it can be boarded from the ground.

Mecha Dragon Ship[]

Mecha dragon ship (2)

The Mecha Dragon Ship can fly, travel to other planets or systems and is the only ship that can pass through the gas of Unoiks 428d, thus removing it and allowing other ships to pass through the atmosphere. It can be equipped with Heavy Cannon or Homing Blaster, as well as the Shieldbreaker sub weapon, which can be built inside once unlocked. The Heavy Cannon and Homing Blaster can be bought from the Mirrows' store after you build the Mecha Dragon Ship, as they will tell you the first time you talk to them after you have done so. Once you have the Book of Translation, the Mecha Dragon Ship will talk to you and add the recipes for these weapons to the Forge, crafting them using a Plasma Gun and a Plasma Cannon as the primary ingredients respectively. The Shieldbreaker recipe, when later unlocked, uses the Antimatter Launcher and the Book of Shielding as two of its ingredients.

The Mecha Dragon Ship is built in the Dragon Factory on the Floating Dragon Island above the Cultivator Island. Later, it can be built at the HQ Dragon Chamber where the exotic matter and dragonblood is removed from the construction cost. It needs 1 - 3 Power Cores to function. The Mecha Dragon ship has a place to rest in its center that acts as a Rejuvenation Pod, and you can recharge near the Power Cores. If the Dragon Ship is destroyed, it turns into a Mecha Dragon Heart equipped on your back, and all the items are placed in your inventory. If the Mecha Dragon that you used to evolve it had a modifier, so will it. The Mecha Dragon Heart that you get when it dies will also have the same modifier.

The Mecha Dragon Ship's entry point is the circular portal located amidships near the ground, found behind the lower jaw and by tracing a line straight down from the eye. This door can be difficult to see in the image because it is the same color as the rest of this ship, but in person it glows and ripples similarly to the door of the Magic House, Synthesizer, Forge, or Time Manipulator. The Mecha Dragon Ship can be boarded from the ground.

  • Location: Dragonship Factory on the Flying Dragon Island

Mobile Lab[]

MobileLab

The Mobile Lab can travel underground, underwater, fly and travel to other planets or systems. The Mobile Lab is built after completing the quest "Study the Stars" from the Professor on Earth. The Mobile Lab comes pre-built with a Kitchen that acts as a House Kitchen, a Research Lab, a Drone Factory, 2 beds (at the top on either side) that fill your Health, Stamina, Power and save the game, and an Advanced Factory that cannot craft vehicles, but can craft Nets, an item only previously craftable in a Dockhouse. All structures mentioned do not work until you install a Power Core in the Lab, and the Lab cannot fly until you install three. The Lab also has two arcade machines where you can play a Shooter and a Platformer minigame. You can bring the Mirrows, the Hunter, the Mechanic, the Scavenger, the Ranger, the Alchemist, and the Explorer aboard, as well as the Professor who will already be present. The Research Lab researches faster for each researcher on board, and you can still buy from the Mirrows. The Mechanic will not help with research, but she will slowly repair the ship if she is onboard. If the Mobile Lab is destroyed, you and all the items in the Lab are put in a Lifepod but all researchers in the Lab will die.

The Mobile Lab's entry points are the two ladders/staircases at the bottom of the ship. It can be boarded from the ground.

Dragon Fighter[]

AlienFighter

The Dragon Fighter can be obtained by taking over an Enemy Fighter after killing the crew or by building one at a HQ Dragon Chamber. It can go into space, but cannot go on the ground, underground, or underwater. The homing attack is used via hotkey 8. The regular attack takes the form of rapid-firing blasts of energy, similar to the Plasma Gun.

There is no resting place to save your game on board a Dragon Fighter. This may be due to the Fighter’s very small size, as the nest-like rejuvenation areas are as large as control rooms and the Fighter’s interior is almost entirely taken up by the control panel.

The Dragon Fighter can be entered by standing in front of it, slightly back from the forwardmost point, whereupon the ship will light up and give you the option to board. It can be boarded from the ground.

Dragon Bomber[]

Alien Bomber

The Dragon Bomber can be obtained by taking over an Enemy Bomber after killing the crew or by building one at a HQ Dragon Chamber. It can go into space, but cannot go on the ground, underground, or underwater. The bomb attack is used via hotkey 8, but can blow up your own structures and permanently kill NPCs. The gun attack, fired from the small red dome at the front of the Bomber, takes time to charge up and takes the form of two plasma rings moving outward.

There is a resting place, identical in appearance to the Dragonship rejuvenation nest, located slightly up and back from the Bomber’s front control room. It will restore your Health and Stamina, and save your game. A second control room is located just in front of the cargo hold, and the ship can be operated from there. As enemy Bombers have three crew each, the multiple control panels may allow all of them to attack and shield while in orbit.

The Dragon Bomber can be entered by hovering in front of its lower front section , as indicated by it lighting up and giving you the option to board. It cannot be boarded from the ground, but you can climb up the walls of the Dragonship Factory or HQ Dragon Chamber to reach it while landed.

Dragon Cruiser[]

Alien Cruiser

The Dragon Cruiser can be obtained by taking over an Enemy Cruiser after killing the crew. It can also be obtained by building one at a Dragon Chamber. It can go into space, but cannot go on the ground, underground, or underwater. The homing attack is used via hotkey 8.

Dragon Cruisers have two rejuvenation “nests” for saving the game. There are multiple control rooms on board from which the ship can be operated. The cargo hold is in the center of the ship.

The main attack of a Dragon Cruiser resembles lightning and covers a wide vertical as well as horizontal area. The homing orbs are larger than a Dragon Fighter or even the final boss.

The Cruiser will automatically collect drops from any enemies it destroys with its ranged lightning attack, saving you the effort of having to fly over to pick the items up. Flocks of Skyfish or Colony Planet enemies can be hunted this way to gather resources quickly. The homing orbs will instantly destroy any enemy other than spaceships, but the cruiser will not collect those drops by itself.

The Dragon Cruiser can be entered from any point on the lower front, which will be indicated by the ship lighting up when you hover in front of it to let you board. It cannot be boarded from the ground, but you can climb up the walls of the Dragonship Factory or HQ Dragon Chamber to reach it while landed.

Colony Ship[]

ColonyShipExt

The Colony Ship can be obtained by repairing the one in Sunset Haven's Desert or the one in Earth Desert. It can go into space, but cannot go on the ground, underground, or underwater. The Colony Ship comes pre-built with the Colony Market, a special Upgraded Factory that acts as an Airport too, as well as a Drone Factory. The Colony Ship requires 1 Power Core installed to operate its facilities, and 8 Power Cores installed to fly. It is currently the only vehicle in the game that has two weapons fire at the same time. The two guns are the projection above the windows and the round crater-like dent below the windows. The windows are the location of the cockpit; you must walk there after boarding and get into the captain's chair in order to fly the ship.

The power core room is a vertical row of sockets at the very back of the ship, like on the Fighter Escort. There are eight slots for power cores in total.

The image here is actually of the CaptAIn's Colony ship; any ship that you repair will lack the three modules projecting off the front, bottom, and tail. The interior will also be slightly different. Compared to the CaptAIn's Colony ship, a colony ship you repair will have no medical bay, museum, blueprint printer, or polymer assembler. You cannot build a space station by using your own colony ship as a base to build more modules and expand the interior area. If you want to build Exo Factory equipment here, you have to upgrade the Drone Factory yourself. The crew quarters are in the same place and will restore your health and stamina, but the door that would lead to the museum is instead the exit to the ship. Wherever you are in relation to the colony ship when you board it, you will automatically enter through this door.

The Colony Ship cannot be boarded from the ground, but if it is landed and you exit you will be on the ground. When you operate the ship, you will only be able to see part of its front, as it is even larger than the Dragon Cruiser.
